FOR SALE: AN 1864 COPPER NICKEL INDIAN HEAD CENT.
GRADE:
VF30 Details - My opinion based on ANA Grading Standards and my experience
but I am selling this coin as a VF20 because it appears to be lacquered.
Please look at the images and decide for yourself before you buy this coin.
CONDITION:
The images show the actual coin you will receive enlarged to about 5x magnification.
The white highlighting on the edge of some devices and above the eye is reflection from the scanner glass.
My scanner does not pick up luster, tends to wash out the fields and exaggerates flaws.
The actual coin is darker than the images and looks much nicer in hand than in the images.
Images of "LIBERTY" the diamonds and the ribbon are also included enlarged to about 10x magnification.
Please keep in mind that images at this magnification exaggerate any imperfections.
Liberty: Complete but a little weak.
Diamonds: 1 1/2 visible on the actual coin.
Ribbon: Edges separated from arrows.
Lower edge wrapping around the arrows weak but visible on the actual coin.
Other grading areas should be clear from the images.
There are dings around the eye, one in the headband below the "L",
on the obverse rim at 1:00 (minor) and in the obverse and reverse fields.
There are also minor scratches on the coin surface.
In my opinion, this 144 year-old coin would be a very nice addition to any collection.
